Happy First Day of Spring! We need to pat ourselves on the back for making it through a particularly rough winter. In Alabama, we got some snow which always makes me happy, but there were also lots of cold, gray, dreary days to endure. But yesterday was a beautiful day. I was at work and missed most of the warmth and sunshine, but thanks to Daylight Savings Time, I was able to shoot some photos in my yard when I got home, and that made me happy.
My lamb's ear plants are starting to take off. This plant has great texture and is a bit invasive, but all I do is yank up some of it when it gets out of hand. It doesn't seem to notice.
My nandinas still have pretty red berries, a fact I'm thankful for on those gray days.
Here's one of the loropetalum bushes in the front. We probably committed a cardinal gardening sin by planting these in the front, as they really are too big for the space. But the wonderful burgundy leaves look great with our brick and the chartreuse color of the nandinas closeby, so what can you say. The new growth is just peeking out.
I planted bulbs in the pots on my deck. These are the first daffodils to bloom.
Today is Saturday and it looks like the weather may cooperate for some much needed work in the yard. Happy Spring everyone!
Nice to have a peek at your plants. I am heading outside today to do some spring cleanup. I love this time of the year.

I am about to post on my blog about how I am glad Spring has arrived. Nice photos. Jana wants some daffodils for next year.
